The Gulai House features alfresco dining sections that overlook the verdant rainforest, with candle-lit alcoves, organza drapes and low tables with comfortable cushions placed on hand-woven mats. Set within the exclusive The Datai Langkawi, the eatery offers authentic Malay and Indian dishes such as rendang daging (RM80), ikan bakar berulam (RM83) and sup ketam berserai (RM45). For dessert, we highly recommend the Cendol Pulut (RM28), a traditional Malay dessert that consists of shaved ice, coconut milk, palm sugar, sticky rice and red kidney beans. Built in the form of a traditional village house, The Gulai House also hosts cultural shows every night between 20:00 and 21:00, performed by local dancers dressed in vibrant indigenous costumes.

2 Kayu Puti at The St Regis Langkawi
Kayu Puti at The St. Regis Langkawi is an elegant dining venue that specialises in Asian-influenced haute cuisine, unique cocktails and premium wines, featuring a classy nautical concept. There’s also a bar section, where you can relax on comfortable hammocks and sunbeds hanging above the Andaman Sea. The food menu is helmed by Executive Chef Gaetan Biesuz, combining French cooking techniques with locally sourced ingredients such as black bee honey, coconut and seafood. Standouts include the Andaman lobster tail with homemade sambal (RM95), as well as the Stanbroke Wagyu Beef (RM250), served with purple sweet potato mousseline, grilled baby corn and wild mushroom. For dessert, we highly recommend Kayu Puti’s Black Bee’s Honey (RM45), which comes with crèmeux, sponge, gel, ice cream and bitter 70% Valrhona chocolate.

The Planter’s at The Danna Langkawi overlooks the resort’s infinity pool and Pantai Kok Beach, featuring a classy colonial interior, excellent service and a live pianist in the evening. Located on the ground floor, this upmarket restaurant offers an extensive menu of Mediterranean, European-inspired and Malaysian cuisine. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are also available for those with specific dietary needs. Highly recommended are the falafel (with tahini yoghurt and pickle radish salad), premium Australian beef tenderloin (with chive and sour cream potato mash, green beans, mesclun, hollandaise and forest mushroom sauce) and sweet banana porridge (served with homemade coconut lime ice cream).

The Cliff Langkawi’s food offerings consist of authentic Malay and western dishes that are rich in flavour, with standouts including traditional slow-cooked beef (RM54), crab cannelloni (RM37), pan-seared foie gras (RM49) and lamb rack served with perchik sauce (RM75).

The Pavilion, an award-winning establishment at The Datai Langkawi, is arguably the best place for authentic Thai cuisine on the island. FatCUPID Restaurant at La Pari Pari Resort serves a mix of local and international cuisine in Pantai Tengah. Pancakes, omelette with toast, and bacon and egg sandwiches are offered for breakfast while chilli prawn aglio olio, beef rendang, and Nyonya delicacies such as pongteh (braised chicken in sweet bean paste) are served for lunch and dinner. This all-white establishment features a nice garden setting with lots of greenery, plants and trees, where diners can unwind and enjoy their meals with a pleasant view of La Pari Pari resort’s outdoor swimming pool and cottage-like rooms.

Due to its locale, expect to splurge for a meal at Ikan-Ikan but portions served here are very generous. We love the kangkung tumis belacan (RM42), gulai ketam kuala muda (RM140), and ikan-ikan kukus dua musim (RM138), all of which are best paired with steamed rice (RM9).

Langkawi Fish Farm Restaurant is one of Langkawi’s oldest seafood restaurant, providing efficient service, a lively dining atmosphere, and value-for-money delicacies from the sea. The indoor dining section is spacious and beautifully decorated with pirate ship replicas and fishermen lanterns hanging from the ceiling while the sea deck outside is an open-air dining space with a stunning view of the Andaman Sea. Signature dishes at Langkawi Fish Farm Restaurant include the Thai-style steamed fish, BBQ lobster, and chilli crab. Due to its popularity among foreign travellers, the price may be higher compared to most seafood eateries in Kuah.

True to its name, fish and chips offerings are aplenty in this restaurant, with snow fish (RM27), mackerel (RM32), barracuda (RM37), red snapper (RM42), salmon (RM47) and halibut (RM49) just to name a few.
