Flight✈️

We took SCOOT AIRLINE direct flight from Singapore to Athens, Greece. The flight duration was 11 hours, and although there's no in flight entertainment, but Dreamliner 787 is no joke. The cabin space is pretty big, even when there's turbulence you can't really feel the plane shaking; the seats are spacious and comfortable; and most importantly the flight ticket is cheap.

Transportation ✈️ 🚌 🚄 🚢

The transportation in Istanbul is really convenient. There's a Metro Station right in the airport, and at the entrance you'll find vending machines selling Istanbul Card.

*The Istanbul Card is shareable among multiple people. Don't underestimate this card, you even need it for the wash rooms in cities.

We walked most of the time when we're in Athens, as attractions like the Acropolis are just walking distance away.

We rent a card and scooter when we're in Santorini and Mykonos. The driver's seat is at the left side, so be sure to bring your International Driver's License!

Turkey + Greece 🇹🇷🇬🇷

We traveled two countries in the span of 14 days. It is actually tiring, but it's totally worth it.

We took Olympic Air airlines back and from Turkey and Greece. The air plane is relatively small, but since it's only an hour or so flight so the experience is still bearable. The flight attendants serve drinks, snacks, and also bread. Also the flights were always punctual, the few times we took it there's no delay for both departure and arrival.

From Istanbul to Cappadocia, we chose to take a night bus. While the seat was not really spacious, but it's still comfortable, each seat comes with a TV screen and also power plug. The whole journey was about 11 to 12 hours, with 2-3 rest stops in between, and throughout the journey there's also people serving tea and biscuits for like refreshments. We took this bus back and forth Istanbul and Cappadocia, so we saved 2 nights of accommodations.

*Tips: If you have insomnia or have trouble sleeping, we recommend you to take a flight instead.

We also took a ferry ride from Santorini to Mykonos. We booked out tickets at the airport in Athens. The ferry is considered pretty huge, and the seats are numbered so no free seating. The ferry stopped at three islands, with each port stopping for about 5-10 minutes. There's also foods and drinks selling in the ferry.

*Because the wave was quite harsh, so the ferry shakes quite a lot. So if you're prone to seasick, try not to eat too much before boarding, or prepare some seasickness medicines.

Accommodations 🏠🏢

Sultan Cave Hotel (Recommended) - Spacious room, but the selling point is its location, as the balcony is the perfect spot to watch hot air balloons taking flight. Of course, living in a in-cave-hotel is a kind of experience worth trying.

*We recommend staying in Cappadocia for at least 2 days, just in case the weather is bad and the hot air balloons couldn't operate.

*There's many other affordable cave hotels around which also looks pretty fine, so you're not limited to one choice.

Istanbul World Heritage Hotel - The room is not as spacious, but it's enough. Clean and comfortable, and nice location.

Airbnb Cally Cave House - Spacious, private pool, nice location.

Hotel Elysian - Have a nice cup of wine in the private pool while enjoying the sunset, perfect 🍷.

The Secret Spot Mykonos - Pool, spacious, comes with a living room and kitchen.

TONI'S 2BD Home - Ideal location, spacious and comfortable, comes with two rooms, a living room, and a kitchen.

Foods 🥓🌮🥗🍕

Personally we love Turkish foods, natural herbs coupled with nicely grilled chicken/beef, a must-try in your life! P/S: Pretty sure it's also because we're meat-lovers. 😁

Recommended restaurants:

*Sedef - Cappadocia

*Kebapzade - Cappadocia

*Ortaklar Kebap Lahmacun - Istanbul (Trip Advisor 2012-2017 Winner)

*Galata Bridge - Restaurant under Istanbul Bridge, their best sellers are Balik Ekmek (Fish Sandwich) and a traditional drink called Salgam

*Falafeland Santorini - Vegetarians would love this place.

*Beneth 1948 - Athens

*Turkish Delight

Turkish meals are relatively large portion. So if you're not a big eater you can share them with a friend. Before the main courses are served, they'll serve you breads and special sauces. All the appetizers are free too so don't worry!

But truth to be told, after a few days of bread🍞 and noodles🍝, we do start missing rice🍚 and Malaysian foods.

Conclusion✅✅

Our bucket-list has been ticking itself off because of Scoot Airline’s Super Scootee’s Take Off Tuesday Promo. Psssst, 600sgd for a return ticket with meals and baggage.

We had exactly 2 weeks to cram in 2 countries (Turkey and Greece) and 5 cities (Cappadocia, Istanbul, Santorini, Mykonos and Athens) that we wanted to visit.

Personally I really like Turkey. Great foods, fair prices, and the locals are all passionate and kind.

The Acropolis of Athens is a mighty structure. It's not something you'll only see in stories and movies! We are impressed when we saw it in person.

Santorini's scenery is definitely indescribably beautiful. Blue and white is definitely perfect match! Anyone can be a professional photographer here, as however and whatever you take, there're all perfect.

Mykonos has a special kind of feeling. The people here long for human rights and freedom.

Thanks to HMD Global (Malaysia), we captured every moment during the trip with 2 phones Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8. The Zeiss cameras of the phones never failed us and able to capture great pictures and videos. It’s also worth to mention the battery size of Nokia 7 Plus, it can easily last you in the most strenuous day without having to reach for the USB-C charger. Check out the video and photos in the album!
